Our Classes

We offer hands-on metalsmithing classes in our professional studio in Templeton, California. Whether you're just beginning or looking to deepen your skills, our small-group workshops are designed to teach essential techniques in a creative, supportive environment. Led by master silversmith Randy Stromsoe, each class is rooted in craftsmanship, tradition, and personal attention.

About this class:

Explore foundational jewelry techniques through the creation of basic band rings. Filing, carving, texturing, and stamping will be covered.

Students will complete one or two rings depending on complexity and personal pace. Optional pierced designs for pendants may also be explored.

About this class:
Learn the basics of anticlastic forming — a technique that creates elegant, fluid curves by moving metal in two opposing directions.


Students will complete a sculptural bangle (as well as other projects), gaining foundational skills in controlled forming.

About this class:
Learn proper cabochon stone setting, including bezel construction and shank design, along with carving, filing, and texturing techniques.

Students may work on a ring, pendant, or bolo. Bring your own cabochon (flat-bottom preferred) or choose from our limited studio stock.

About this class:
Create a chased, embossed, and textured pewter drinking vessel - cup, beaker, loving cup, kiddush cup, lowball, or wine cup.

Modern pewter is an accessible alloy of tin, antimony, and copper. It is affordable, durable, and requires little care, making it ideal for functional hollowware.

About this class:
An intermediate forging class focused on spoons, spreaders, and functional utensils.

Emphasis is placed on form, proportion, and finish, with room for experimentation and personal expression.

Class Info & Studio Policies

Payment & Registration

  • Full payment is required to reserve your spot.

  • We accept credit cards through our website.

  • Most classes includes two 4-hour sessions (8 hours total), unless otherwise specified.

  • Maximum of 4 students per class to ensure personalized instruction.

  • You must register for both days of each workshop.

  • If you’re interested in a buyout of a full class, contact us and we may be able to facilitate another date.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations made at least 14 days before the class will receive a full refund.

  • Cancellations made less than 14 days prior will receive a 50% refund.

  • No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time.

Materials & Extra Costs

  • Most materials are included unless otherwise noted.

  • Sterling silver is not included and is priced above spot due to manufacturing costs.

  • If applicable, additional material fees will be listed on the class description.

What to Bring

  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes

  • Something to tie back long hair

  • Safety glasses (we’ll provide some, but feel free to bring your own or wear them over prescriptions)

  • Clothing you don’t mind getting dusty or marked — you’ll be using tools, metal, and polishing compounds

Liability Waiver

All students are required to sign a liability waiver upon arrival.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older (or have a guardian’s signature).

Classes are held in-person at our private studio in Templeton, California. Exact address provided after registration.
